Burden of Neglected Diseases Symposia in Brazil, India, Malaysia

Following the success of the inaugural ‘Symposium on the Burden of Neglected Diseases (BoND)’ hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (India), more symposia have taken place around the world.

The 2nd BoND Symposium happened on 1st December 2008 in Brasilia (Brazil), co-convened by Dr João Bosco Siqueira Júnior of the Universidade Federal de Goiás.

The 3rd BoND Symposium, convened by Dr Brij Kishore Tyagi of the Centre for Research in Medical Entomology (Indian Council of Medical Research), was hosted as part of the 2nd Conference on Medical Arthropodology in Madurai (India) on 16th December 2008.

The 4th BoND Symposium took place on 17th January 2009 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), co-convened by Dr Ng Chiu Wan of Universiti Malaya.

A special supplement to the WHO Dengue Bulletin, an open-access peer-reviewed journal, will be published later this year on this topic.
