University of Irvine and Oxitec announce development of new flightless female mosquito to help control dengue fever

A new strain of mosquitoes in which females cannot fly, and therefore cannot mate or spread disease, presents a potential breakthorugh in the control of dengue fever. The announcement was made by the University of California, Irvine, and relates to Oxitec’s OX3604C Aedes aegypti strain.
