Oxford, 26 October 2006. Oxitec is pleased to welcome Dr Andrew
McKemey to its Business Development team.
Andrew has a BSc. from Bath in Applied Biology, an MSc. in crop
protection from the University of Bristol and a PhD in Invertebrate
Ecology from the University of Cardiff. He is joining us from Insect
Investigations Ltd. in Cardiff, where he was Head of Field Studies.
There he was responsible for running contract research insect
control trials including efficacy and regulatory studies.
Head
of Business Development, Ann Kramer, commented “Andrew
will be a valuable addition to Oxitec as more of our insects move on
from the laboratory into field tests.”

Oxitec
has developed a strain of mosquito with the key features required to
control the yellow fever mosquito, the the principal urban vector of
dengue, chicangunya and yellow fever viruses.

Oxitec was selected for the Fast Company Magazine's 6th annual "Fast
50". Oxitec's method for controlling disease-spreading mosquitoes
was chosen as one of the top 50 most promising profit-driven
solutions for what ails the planet.

scientists. Dr Martha Koukidou
has joined the fruit fly control team, and
Dr Krisztian Magori has joined the
mosquito control team as a senior mathematical / economic modeller.
