Hadyn Parry, Chief Executive Officer
Hadyn has an extensive background in the Life Science sector. During his fifteen-year career at Zeneca/Syngenta he held various positions, including General Manager of Zeneca Plant Sciences and European Director and Global Head of R&D for Advanta, one of the world’s largest seed companies. More recently he was CEO of MNL Pharmaceuticals, a company that was focused on pioneering a novel approach in immunology. Hadyn is also Chairman of Help For Heroes, a charity founded in 2007 to support wounded British soldiers.
Dr Luke Alphey, Chief Scientific Officer
After completing a degree at Cambridge University and a PhD at the University of Dundee, Luke held research posts at Imperial College, London and the University of Dundee, was a lecturer at the University of Manchester and then became an MRC Senior Research Fellow and Reader in Genetics at the Department of Zoology at Oxford University, where he is now a Visiting Professor. He is the inventor of the RIDL® system, and a founder of Oxitec.
Ann Kramer, Head of Business Development
Ann joined Oxitec from Syngenta, where she worked in Business Development, M&A, corporate strategy and on-farm sales. She has over 20 years’ broad experience in agricultural biotechnology and agro-chemicals, based in North America, UK and Switzerland. Ann has a masters degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.
Andrew Meyrick, Chief Financial Officer
Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Andrew has had more than 20 years’ experience growing businesses across a range of industries. Andrew has held a number of CFO positions including in a large regional law firm, an acquisitive international education business and in small biotech companies.
Dr Vasan, Chief Executive Officer Oxitec Sdn Bhd (Malaysia)
Vasan has masters degrees from BITS Pilani and IISc Bangalore, and a doctorate from Trinity College, Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Prior to joining Oxitec, Vasan worked in the USA as a consultant in the pharmaceutical and medical products practice of McKinsey & Company.
Camilla Beech, Regulatory Affairs Manager
Camilla has extensive international experience in the regulation of biotechnology products and crops. She obtained commercial food approval in the UK for the first GM crop in Europe, and obtained registrations for numerous biotechnology crops in Africa, Asia and the Americas. She advised the Humanitarian Board for Golden Rice on regulatory matters (1997 to 2004), and was a member of both US (BIO) and European Inter-industry groups (EUROPABIO) on The Cartagena Biosafety Protocol, Convention on Biological Diversity and Plant made Pharmaceuticals. Her most recent post was International Regulatory Manager for Syngenta Biotechnology Inc., based in San Diego, California.
Non-executive team
The Board of Directors is responsible for Oxitec’s corporate governance and is ultimately accountable for our activities, strategy and financial performance. The Board is comprised of Hadyn Parry CEO, Dr Luke Alphey CSO and the following non-executive directors:
Dr David Brooks, Chairman
David has twenty-five years’ experience with ICI in the agrochemical market. His last position was as Vice President of R&D for ICI Americas where he was responsible for functions from discovery through product safety, registration and pilot plant manufacture to market development and technical service. He was a member of the UK Government Science and Technology Foresight Panel for agriculture and the environment. He served as CEO of Oxitec from its foundation until November 2008.
Dr David Buckeridge
David has more than 20 years’ management experience in the pharmaceutical, genomics and chemical industries, with a particular emphasis on agribusiness.
He spent some 8 years in Zeneca’s agrochemicals, holding several management positions with a European focus, and 5 years in Des Moines, Iowa, running the commercial operations for AstraZeneca’s seeds business in the US.  He became CEO of Advanta, then the largest independent agronomic seeds businesses in the world; this was acquired by Paine & Partners in 2004. David served as a commissioner to the UK Government’s Department of Trade and Industry Biotechnology Commission, advising Ministers on policy related to biotechnology and genetically modified organisms.
Landon Clay
Landon is a Managing Member of East Hill Advisors, Chairman of the Clay Mathematics Institute, and Chairman of the Caribbean Conservation Corporation. Prior to founding East Hill, he was CEO and Chairman of Eaton Vance. Landon serves on various other boards including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He received an AB cum laude from Harvard College.
Edward Mott
Ted founded and is Chief Executive of Oxford Capital Partners (www.oxcp.com). After a period with Corning Inc., where he led the introduction of fibre optics in Europe, Ted pursued a career in investment banking in New York, Paris, Hong Kong and London. Ted is a graduate of Cambridge University (MA Economics) and INSEAD Business School (MBA), and speaks fluent English, French and German. He serves on the boards of several companies as a non-executive director, mostly in the fields of new technologies and has a keen interest in sustainability engineering.

Bill Fleming, Chief Financial Officer

Bill joins us from Bayer Healthcare having held senior finance positions in Europe and the USA.  He has a law degree from Cambridge University and is a qualified ACMA.  Previously, Bill served as European Finance Director for Visible Genetics, a pioneering company in the field of nucleic acid diagnostics.
