As Business Development Director APAC, Dr. Raja Mahendran is at the forefront of Oxitec’s expansion across the region, spearheading strategic partnerships and accelerating the path to market for sustainable solutions. Since joining Oxitec in September 2023, Raja has leveraged his network to connect Oxitec with high-profile partners and represented the company at major regional conferences and trade shows, driving its vision forward. 

Raja’s career is defined by his passion for innovation and leadership in pest risk management. With a background in business development and strategic marketing, he has consistently turned around business profitability, launched disruptive products, and built high-performing teams across global roles. His impressive journey includes leadership positions with Bayer Environmental Science (now Envu) in Australia and France, Novartis Animal Health (now Elanco) in Switzerland, and Ensystex Inc. in Singapore. He has also spent years consulting for major players in crop protection, animal health, and pest control worldwide.

A thought leader and industry influencer, Raja’s expertise is backed by a Doctorate in Business Administration from EIMT Switzerland, an Executive Strategic Marketing Program from Harvard Business School, Strategic Management from MGSM in Australia, a Postgraduate Certificate in Marketing from Charles Sturt University in Australia, and accreditation as a Certified Practising Marketer (CPM) with the Australian Marketing Institute. He also holds a Master's degree in Agriculture (entomology) from the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture in Sri Lanka, a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Madras in India, and a pest control operator license from the EPA NSW in Australia.

Splitting his time between Sydney, Australia, and Negombo, Sri Lanka, Raja’s influence spans the entire APAC region. His commitment to sustainable pest risk management and strategic growth makes him a key figure driving Oxitec’s mission to transform global markets.
