Sarah-Jayne Henderson

Head of Global Quality

Sarah-Jayne joined Oxitec in June 2023 as the Global Quality Lead. She is responsible for the Quality Control and Quality Assurance departments within the UK and Brazil, the Health, Safety, Biosafety, and Oxitec’s Aedes aegypti product Production teams within the UK. The Quality unit works together to ensure compliance with our internal procedures and external regulations, as well as to ensure good quality products, and the safety and wellbeing of our staff. Sarah-Jayne holds a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology and Immunology and a MPhil for Research in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences in Scotland. She is a Chartered Quality Professional with two decades of experience within the life science industry – she is an active member of the Chartered Quality Institute, Royal Society of Biology, and Research Quality Association.

Sarah-Jayne’s varied background has provided her with many transferable skills. She started her career working for the British government at the Health Protection Agency (HPA) where her work helped to protect the public from new and emerging health threats. During her postgraduate studies, Sarah-Jayne worked for the Cancer Research Formulation Unit. Before moving into quality, Sarah-Jayne spent 10 years in clinical research / pharmaceutical manufacturing. She has worked directly with regulatory bodies such as the FDA and MHRA. Her role in Oxitec has provided Sarah-Jayne with a wonderful opportunity to work with people from all around the world and aligns with her personal objective to make a positive impact to public health.
