Flyttr Acquires RapidAIM: Scaling Global Autonomous Sentry Systems to Strengthen Decision Advantage Against Biosecurity and Pest Threats

  • RapidAIM’s autonomous pest sensor solutions provide a product platform for high-fidelity, real-time intelligence layers to strengthen decision-making cycles.

  • Acquisition strengthens Flyttr’s global biosecurity platform for detecting, deciding and targeting complex threats across multiple domains.

March 17, 2026 (Radford, VA and Brisbane, Australia). Flyttr™ (formerly Oxitec) today announced the acquisition of Australian startup RapidAIM®, the global leader in intelligent, autonomous pest sensor systems, strengthening Flyttr’s platform for helping the world detect, understand, and sustainably manage biological threats to human health, agricultural security, the environment and national infrastructure.

For decades, the global response to biological threats has relied on fragmented data, reactive manual surveillance, and slow, imprecise interventions. In an era of accelerating biological volatility, growing biosecurity threats, and failing legacy pest management tools, this lag is no longer acceptable.

To close this gap, Flyttr is building a global platform that integrates pest sentry and edge computing systems, AI-powered decision-support, and targeted biological pest control and countermeasure interventions that gives customers the ability to understand threats and then deliver targeted actions against them. RapidAIM is now a foundational part of that platform.

Spun out of Australia’s national science agency, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), RapidAIM is a multi-award-winning AgTech company that is scaling the world's most accurate, real-time Internet of Things (IoT) pest monitoring systems, helping growers reduce costs and environmental impact of agricultural pest management. RapidAIM’s product platform includes small, autonomous IoT sensor‑based sentinels that integrate environmental and geospatial signals to deliver continuous, real‑time visibility of pest activity across vast landscapes, all with minimal human interaction for long periods of time.

"The complexity of global biological threats has outpaced ability of humans to monitor and manage them effectively. We’re changing that," said Grey Frandsen, CEO of Flyttr. "RapidAIM gives us the persistent, real-time data layers required to understand and outpace complex pest and biosecurity risks before they hit. We aren't just improving pest management – we are delivering our customers decision advantage – the ability to see, understand, and act before threats can deliver damage. RapidAIM and its outstanding team are a foundational driver of this effort.”

Dr. Nancy Schellhorn, co-founder and CEO of RapidAIM, said “we’re thrilled. Joining Flyttr opens new opportunities for RapidAIM to expand worldwide and together continue the mission to use cutting-edge IoT and AI solutions that set new standards in the fight against pest threats. Our commitment to our customers remains unchanged, and now with the support of Flyttr, we can accelerate innovation, expand our offerings and bring greater value for every customer who relies on us.”

RapidAIM is now scaling commercial operations against key pest threats to American, UK and Australian agriculture and is integrating with Flyttr’s global platform as Flyttr develops pest intelligence, decision-support solutions and countermeasures for the world’s most important pest threats.
